Introducing the Charging Equalizer

The Problem

Two 12V Batteries connected in series can never be charged equally
One of them can accept lower (e.g 13.6 V), the other higher (e.g 15.2 V) charging voltage at the same charging current

Together 28.8V

Consequence

The imbalance is self destructive and shortens the life of both batteries, due to:
- sulphating (caused by undercharging)
- drying up (caused by overcharging)

How it Works:

The Equalizer measures the total actual charging voltage (e.g 28.8V) and calculates its middle value (e.g 14.4V) and shunts the battery of which the voltage is more than 0.1 V higher, measured from the middle value.

The Equalizer has no effect on the total charging voltage and operates only at voltage higher than 26.4V, practically when the batteries are being charged. Maximum current is 1A.

To Demonstrate, the manufacturer conducted the following tests:

Two new batteries were connected in series; voltage was measured at the terminals:
1: They were neither connected to the charger nor the equalizer (12.72 V and 12.71V)
2: They were connected to 28.8V constant voltage charger without Equalizer 13.6V and 15.2V)
3: They were connected to the charger and Equalizer (14.38V and 14.42V)
4: they were connected to the charger without Equalizer again (13.6V and 15.2V)

Benefits of the Charge Equalizer:

- Deceases voltage on overcharged batteries
- Increasing Voltage on undercharged battery
- Increased starting current because of equal state of charge
- Increased battery life

Applications:
Trucks, Buses, Wheelchairs, Scooters, Mobility Vehicles,
All 12V batteries in series.
